Youth Programme

Oakham Cricket Club having obtained the Sport England Clubmark Accreditation is now recognised by Sport England, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board as a safe, effective child-friendly club.

 

The Clubmark Accreditation sets the entry level for a network of cricket clubs providing quality cricket programmes for young people. In addition the club is further recognised for its programme with schools; its coaching and competition programmes; and its development programme for talented players.

 

The Club is also recognised by these bodies as an ECB Focus Club. A Focus Club is one that has been identified (by the ECB) for a clear strategic reason, and one that is committed to long-term junior development.

 

In 2011, Oakham Cricket Club will again be the only Chance to Shine cricket club in Rutland.  This ECB initiative will see Oakham Cricket Club invest 200 hours of cricket training amongst a cluster of local state schools within the local community.

 

Therefore the club is pursuing its policy of actively developing youth cricket within the local community, and presently running the following sessions at the Lime Kilns Brooke Road ground:

 

KWIK & Inter Cricket (6 to 11 years) 

  • Every Sunday between 22nd April to 26th August 2012

  • Oakham Cricket Club – 10.00am to 12 noon

  • Cost: £10 club membership and £2 per coaching session

 

Junior Cricket Coaching

(U13s, U15s & U17s) 

  • U13s Tuesday Evenings + U15s & U17s Wednesday Evenings

  • Between 24th April to 22nd August 2011

  • Oakham Cricket Club – 6.00pm to 8.00pm

  • Cost: £10 club membership and £2 per coaching session

 

 

All coaches are CRB cleared and insurance covered.

 

Junior Cricket Teams (U9s, U11s, U13s, U15s & U17s)

 

The Club has entered teams into the Border Counties Youth Cricket Association League at Under 9s, Under 11s, Under 13s, Under 15s and Under 17s for 2011. These fixtures can be found within the fixtures booklet.

New Youth Members (All Welcome)

 

New members are very welcome. Just turn up at the ground at the applicable time for the age group and register. Ages are taken as at 31st August preceding.

 

 

Coaches:

 

The Club can boast of having eighteen coaches who have obtained qualifications to either ECB Coaching Assistant (Level 1 - UKCC1 x 15 coaches) or ECB Coaching Award  (Level 2 - UKCC2 x 3 coaches). All are members of the ECB Coaches Association and are CRB cleared and insurance covered.
