We are actively recruiting New members with the emphasis on 1st XI players (Saturday & Sunday) who can strenghten the club, help develop our youngsters and ensure we remain competitive in high quality league cricket. The first reference to Oakham Cricket Club was in 1808, however the Club has been playing on the Lime Kilns Brooke Road (existing ground) since 1870. The facilities (ground, square and pavilion) are one of the best in Leicestershire & Rutland league cricket and we are regularly voted in the top 3 by our peers in the Everards League (including Premier league grounds). We have also hosted Leicestershire 2nd XI games versus Durham and Yorkshire in two of the last three seasons and received very favourable reports.
Oakham Cricket Club is affiliated to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) through its affiliation to the Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket Board (LRCB). Since 2005 the ECB, through the LRCB, has recognised Oakham Cricket Club as a Focus Club. A Focus Club is one that has been identified for an ECB strategic reasons, and one that is committed to long-term junior development. While the club has also obtained Clubmark status. Clubmark will set the entry level for an increasing network of cricket clubs providing good quality cricket programmes for young people throughout the country.In 2011, again Oakham Cricket Club was the only Chance to Shine cricket club in Rutland. This ECB initiative saw the Club invest 200 hours of cricket coaching into a cluster of local state schools within the local community.
In 2012 Oakham Cricket Club will runs two Saturday teams (Everards Leicestershire County League Divisons 3 & 7), two Sunday teams (Rutland League Division 2 & 6) and five Youth Teams (Border Counties Youth Cricket Association League). From 1964 until 2009 Oakham Cricket Club played its Saturday cricket in the South Lincs & Border League. However, In 2010 season, as part of its long term development plan to compete at the highest level we joined the Everards Leicestershire County League.
